...do me a favour and stay away from Daniel and Elias.
[Not that he doesn't trust you, Rawne, but he doesn't want to be on record as encouraging their deaths.
When they reach the common room he's more than happy to flop heavily onto the couch, even if the act gets a pained grunt and a full-body cringe out of him.]
I...[Well, he can't say he hadn't intended to pay them both a visit. Not that he'd kill them. He doesn't want to be demoted.] I'll stay away. I assume they're getting some shit coming to them, anyway.
[Tim makes a face at him, but it's good-natured. Apparently he knows Rawne just well enough.
...but the thought has a bitter edge to it, and his half-smile falls, and instead he grabs a cushion that their heavy flops has thrown onto the floor, and plops it in his own lap.]
Yeah. I... I don't think either of them are gonna be getting out of the aftermath of this unscathed.
[His words have a bit of a bitter edge to them, as well. Elias he expected, but Jacobi? He'd liked him. He still likes him, but he's stung by the idea that he'd screw around like this.]
I got stuck in one of the worst battlefields I've ever seen. And I forgot there was anything but that.
...mine was an evil circus. Everything was nothing and none of it was real, it... [He lifts a hand to rub his face.] It made it so you couldn't even recognise that you were a person, or anything else around you. Like... you know that fear you feel when you see a shadow in the dark, and you're not sure if it's your teammate or a monster? Everything was that. Even yourself.
[He slumps against Rawne, resting his head on his shoulder again.]
[Rawne gladly slides an arm around his shoulders, holding him close.]
At least he did that for you.
[He knows that fear. He spent months on a planet where you didn't dare look too hard at things in the dark, because they could be an ally or an enemy or something that could just instantly kill you. At least on Aexe Cardinale you could see your enemy. Most of the time.]
[Tim pushes himself up fast enough that the world spins, and he has to hold a finger up in pause as he shuts his eyes. When he talks he sound faintly nauseous.]
Daniel Jacobi, my inmate, did nothing to help Elias, and was actually helping to try and kill him during all that. Daniel of Mayfair, Jon's inmate, was the bastard that helped Elias.
[His hand doesn't stray far from the pillow; as soon as Rawne's gotten himself comfortable, in fact, his hand nestles in Rawne's hair and starts gently stroking his scalp.]

[It's a genuine, and also mildly concerned question, before he blinks stupidly.]
Wait, stupid question. You're a bloody supersoldier.

I got Jacobi to blow it up for me. Killed me.

At least he did that for you.

[There's fondness in his tone. Jacobi is his best friend and he appreciates that more than ever right now.]
He's a good person. Just needs to work on some shit.

[He's vaguely aware that the other Daniel exists, but he hasn't talked to him much.]
Well, shit. Why are there two of them?
no subject
...sometimes people have the same name, Rawne. It happens.
[And he flops back against the couch with a heavy sigh.]
no subject
[He scowls.]
Still don't know why Daniel whatshisface decided to do that, but at least I know I'm not totally wrong about Jacobi.
no subject
[The comment is sullen, angry - and almost kind of hurt.]
He thought being on Elias's side was right because he was charming. Because he trusted him even knowing exactly how dangerous he was.
no subject
[Practically all of it, in Rawne's experience.]
no subject
Should I be offended?
no subject
It's not like I don't like bastards.
Or maybe you're an exception.
no subject
[He's pretty sure that's definitely true. It's been easier being himself with all the old stressors blown up.
He has to resettle his shoulders again, the contact making his skin itch, but eventually he settles again with a quiet sigh.]
Definitely more tired, now.
no subject
[Rawne isn't sleepy, but he doesn't mind holding Tim and keeping watch.]
no subject
[He pats the pillow in his lap, an obvious invitation.]
It'll be more comfortable for us both with this, I'm still all sensitive from being torched.
no subject
[But he lies down and puts his head on the pillow.]
You know. Nightmares.

[His hand doesn't stray far from the pillow; as soon as Rawne's gotten himself comfortable, in fact, his hand nestles in Rawne's hair and starts gently stroking his scalp.]

[Then everything happened. But the feeling of Tim's fingers on his scalp is helping to relax him.]

I'll be having circus nightmares again now, no doubt. Didn't miss those.
